Larry Raines And David Bumgardner Make It To Victory Lane After Brady Bacon Wins The Big 10K Gardner Sprintacular

What seemed like a long weekend LPS finally got the Bill Gardner Sprintacular weather to cooperate to get 1 night in Monday July 3rd. After storms last Thursday caused thousands to be without power LPS had to cancel Friday for No Power and then storms all day Saturday had us give it a try Sunday and Monday. Sure enough Sunday as we were starting to see cars entering the gates just 1.5 hours after the pit gate opened Mother Natured opened up on Bill's race again so Monday it was with the other night of Bill's race rescheduled for MSCS and MMSA to come back August 19th. As Richie does a great story on Usac's part of the race Brady Bacon on the front row was very tough and diced his way through traffic for the huge win.
The UMP Super Stocks had 17 entries and the 2 fast times in their groups were Justin Litton 13.357 and Larry Raines 13.342. With the 17 cars we had it was loaded with talent and many victories from all over the state and some of the best in the UMP points rankings for sure. The invert spin for the heats was a 4 which put the fast times starting 4th in each of their heats. Heat race 1 had UMP Points Leader Josh Litton winning his heat race from 2nd over Wade Goodale, Justin Linton and Tucker Chastain. Heat race 2 had Kenny Carmichael Sr. win from 2nd also in a very close battle with Larry Raines with a photo finish by .045 difference at the line. Justin Massie and Ray Walters followed those 2 at the finish of heat race 2. This setup the A main invent and the wheel spin was a 4 again which put Larry Raines and Wade Goodale on the front row of the A main. This would a great battle early with Larry Raines taking the early lead and Wade was looking very fast also early in 2nd but he would bring out the yellow getting into some of Mother Nature leftovers spinning in turn 2 low. This setup a restart and the top 5 to 6 cars you could put a tarp over because it definitely showed we had a lot of talent and speed up front. Larry and Kenny Sr. were having a great battle at the front. While these 2 were battling for the top spot Josh Litton, Justin Litton, Tucker Chastain and Justin Massie were sometimes matched up 2 wide back to back going for spots 3rd through 6th. With just a few laps to go Kenny Sr. was right there with the R4 of Larry just waiting to take the top spot if Larry opened up the door. Larry Raines was able to hit his spots correctly each of the final 2 laps and would go on for win #3 for the season. Following Larry at the finish it was the strong run by Kenny Carmichael Sr, Tucker Chastain from 7th, Josh Litton, Justin Litton and Justin Massie. Thanks to all the Super Stocks who put on a great show for the large Bill Gardner Sprintacular crowd.
The Bombers had 8 entries and the 2 fast times of the group were David Wallen 16.082 and Corey Anstead 16.355. This setup the heat race with a spin of 3 putting David Bumgardner and Corey Anstead on the front row. Corey looked really strong along with David early in the heat race. Corey had to pull off with the problem and this gave the lead to Megan Cavaness and she came from 4th to win the heat race over David Bumgardner, Jason Carson and David Wallen. This setup the A main and the invert spin was a 2 which put David and Megan on the front row. David Bumgardner and Megan Cavaness looked real strong early but unfortunately Megan had to pull off as her 5C had a lot of smoke ending her night. On the restart David Bumgardner continued his strong run and hit all his marks the final 10 laps and held off Joey Raber from 6th to 2nd, David Wallen, Corey Anstead from 8th and Jason Carson. Thanks to all the great teams that stuck it out with us for the weekend and made Monday's show a great one. Thanks to all the fans who came out on a Monday night to enjoy another great Bill Gardner Sprintacular. See you this Saturday as MSCS is back and the MMSA also joins our UMP Mods, UMP Super Stocks and Bombers.
